Jil Sander
Jil Sander was founded by 24 year old Heidemarie Jiline in 1968. For being able to open her first boutique (the famous black finished shop in Hamburg) she sold her car and took out a loan of 200.000 German Mark.
In that boutique she also carried Sonia Rykiel and Thierry Mugler in addition to her own designs.
1975 she experienced some dissapiontment during Paris Fashion Week where her clothes were not accepted due to the fact that they were not colorful enough. At the beginning of 1980 it all changed and the brand began to gain popularity. Today the brand designs are still defined by minimalism, clear cuts, timeless shapes and high-quality materials.
